Artificial Intelligence Notice: ISA prohibits the entry of any ISA intellectual property (“ISA IP”), including standards, publications, training or other materials into any form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, creating derivatives of ISA IP using AI is also prohibited without express written permission from ISA’s CEO. In the case of such use, ISA will suspend a licensee’s access to ISA IP, and further legal action will be considered. Eligibility

Membership in ISA is open to individuals who are interested in the automation profession and align with the objectives and values of the Society. Eligibility criteria vary based on the membership grades.

Grades and Qualifications

ISA offers the following membership grades:

  • Student Member: Individuals must be a full-time student enrolled at a college or university in a vocational, undergraduate, or graduate degree program related to the automation industry.
  • Professional Member: Any individual who desires to support the objectives of the Society.
    • Senior Member: Automatically conferred for any individual who desires to support the objectives of the Society with any combination of 10 years of advanced education and experience in the automation profession.
    • Life Member: Automatically conferred for members who have 25 years of membership when their age and total number of years of membership adds to 90. Life Members are exempt from dues.
    • Fellow Member: Recognition conferred by the Executive Board.
    • Honorary Member: Recognition conferred by the Executive Board.

Dues

Annual dues are determined by the Executive Board in accordance with the bylaws, including a reduction in dues for those in eligible countries. Membership is based on a calendar year from 1 January until 31 December.

Financial Hardship Waiver

Members experiencing lay-offs, furloughs, and salary reductions may request a waiver of annual membership dues for up to two consecutive years. To qualify, a member must:

  • Have been a member of ISA for at least three consecutive years
  • Have not used this benefit for the last two consecutive years
  • Provide a written request to ISA
