    This course reviews the operation principles for many process and laboratory analyzers and provides basic application requirements for their implementation. These analyzers include Air Quality, Perimeter Monitors, Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, Chlorine, Chromatographs-gas and liquid, Colorimeters, Combustibles, Calorimeters, Hydrocarbon, Hydrogen Sulfide, IR and NIR Spectrophotometers, Mass Specs, Moisture, Nitrogen Oxides, NMR, pH, ORP, DO, Ozone, Physical Properties, Raman, Vapor Pressure, Sulfur-in-Oil, Toxic Gases, Turbidity, UV/VIS Spectrophotometers, Refractive Index, Viscometers and Water Quality instrumentation.

    You will be able to:

    • Demonstrate a basic understanding of many varied Laboratory and Process Analyzer Technologies
    • Decide which Emissions Monitoring Technology should be applied to various Process Field Operations

    Lab and Classroom Exercises:

    • Apply the skills acquired in this course to specify Laboratory and Process analyzers for analytical measurement requirements
    • Observe the construction of a Modular Substrate (NeSSI) sample conditioning system.

    Course Prerequisites:

    • Students should have 1 year of laboratory experience or have a bachelor's degree in a science or chemical engineering
