AMETEK acquires two firms
AMETEK will acquire the Solartron Group from Roxboro Group PLC for about $75 million. The company supplies analytical instrumentation for the process, laboratory, and other industrial markets. Solartron will join AMETEK as part of its Electronic Instruments Group (EIG), for monitoring, testing, calibrating, and display instruments. AMETEK EIG sells its instruments to the process and analytical, aerospace, power, and industrial markets worldwide and had 2004 sales of about $667 million.
Solartron has three businesses: Solartron Analytical, Solartron Metrology, and Solartron ISA.
AMETEK also acquired Quizix, a privately held manufacturer of precision pumping systems for the oil and gas market. Quizix developed pumping technology, enabling oil and gas producers to replicate conditions at the bottom of their wells, and allowing them to test core samples under actual conditions. These precision pump systems offer continuous pulse-free flow at high pressures and temperatures, which are needed to simulate reservoir conditions allowing for more efficient oil and gas extraction.
