ISA Automation Community Membership is a hit with thousands

The ISA Automation Community Membership has grown to over 4,000 members since being introduced. This new grade of ISA membership allows automation professionals to sample some of the many benefits of membership and gain recognition within the Society.

Automation Community Members receive a subscription to the digital version of InTech, the premier magazine for automation professionals. Members may also join ISA Technical Divisions for a low fee and further explore ISA through conferences and symposia, the ISA Mentoring Program, training courses, and publications. In addition, the local ISA Sections and their membership chairs welcome Automation Community Members to attend local ISA Section meetings (price will vary) and network with their peers.

The development and launch of a new membership grade is the result of months of work by ISA volunteer leaders and staff. The ISA Image and Membership Department surveyed ISA members, reviewed the practices of peer organizations, and analyzed contact data. The department recommended the establishment of Automation Community Member and Automation Affiliate Member grades to the ISA Executive Committee, which approved the grades in October 2011 at the Fall Leaders Meeting. The Affiliate Membership is extended exclusively to employees and members of the Automation Federation member organizations. ISA is the founding supporter of the Automation Federation.

"ISA recognized that we need to offer professionals the types of memberships they want and value. Even in these busy times, people want to connect with others in their professions. Our members want to be recognized as a part of the community of automation professionals," said Catherine Andrews, vice president of the ISA Image and Membership Department. "By enabling them to join as ISA Automation Community Members, we are starting many of them on the road to full membership and possibly leadership positions within the Society."
