ISA Houston Section YAPFEST a success

The Houston ISA YAPFEST was a huge success! Over 195 people attended, including 71 students from Devry University, 30 students from Lee College in Baytown, Tex., eight from San Jacinto College near Houston, and representatives from numerous companies.

Doug Zimmerman, ISA District 7 DVP and Mcjunkin Red Man Automation Department manager, introduced event guests and spoke about ISA. A special thank you to Dr. Teddy Ivanitzki, Dean of Electronics & Engineering Technology at Devry, who did a terrific job of walking around the room with the microphone so all the sponsors could talk about their respective companies and potential opportunities to the audience. The FIRST presentations put a new perspective on Automation, sharing knowledge on building robots.

Everyone came through on door prizes, and Ben Reyna and Lyondell Basell offered Jimmy Buffet-style music. Sammie Jays Catering provided the food for the event, and every tray was emptied, so that tells it all. This all could not have taken place without Devry's facility, which was brainstormed by Dr. Kal Massad and his team of students.
