ISA Cleveland Section awards scholarship
For 64 years, the Cleveland Technical Societies Council (http://www.ctsc.org) has awarded scholarships to outstanding students from Northeast Ohio high schools. The ISA Cleveland Section is a member of the Council. There are over 30 technical societies on the council.
On 3 May, the ISA Cleveland Section (http://www.ctsc.org/isa/) presented a $1,000 scholarship with the cooperation and donations from Rovisys, Inc., Fox & Dole, Inc., and Franklyn W. Kirk Co.
The scholarship winner is Alexis Cameron Goots, senior at North Olmsted High School, North Olmsted, Ohio. She is ranked second in her graduating class with a grade point average for seven semesters of 4.431. At the university level, she plans to study anthropological sciences and has applied to Case Western Reserve University and Ohio State University in Ohio, and Cornell University, Northwestern University, and University of Chicago outside of Ohio.
In her personal essay, she mentioned participating in a Forensic Science Program at Ohio Northern University in the summer of 2007, which seems to have directed her focus to science.
Goots is a Rensselaer Medalist, Senior Class President of the National Honor Society, Physics and English Student of the Year, Channel 5 Female Student Athlete of the Week, Cleveland Technical Societies Council's Honors Junior in Science/Math representing her school, and more. She is a volunteer in the Archeology Department of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
