Cree, Inc., a LED lighting provider, hired Steve Kelley as executive vice president and chief operating officer for business development, global manufacturing, technology, and administrative operations of the company.

Elke Eckstein assumed the post of chief operating officer at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH in Regensburg, Germany.

The Fieldbus Foundation named Dr. Farshad Amir, technology manager of instrument and control systems for DuPont Engineering, to its board of directors. In addition to Chairman John Berra of Emerson Process Management, Fieldbus Foundation board members now include: Kenneth Deken, Rockwell Automation; David Eisner, Honeywell; Motofumi Matsumura, Fuji; Satoru Kurosu, Yokogawa; Farshad Amir, DuPont; Dr. Gunther Kegel, Pepperl+Fuchs; Timm Madden, ExxonMobil; Mark Taft, ABB; Hirozume Sone, Yamatake Corporation; John Eva, Invensys; Hans-Georg Kumpfmueller, Siemens AG; and Fred Cohn, Schneider Electric.

Maverick Technologies, a global engineering, systems integration, and operational consulting firm, promoted Jim Ford, formerly the director of advanced automation solutions, to director of strategic initiatives for the global business unit. Chad Harper, formerly staff APC engineer, is now manager of advanced automation solutions for the global business unit.

Microfluidics' President and Chief Executive Michael C. Ferrara formed a senior leadership team, including Brian E. LeClair as executive vice president and chief financial officer; William J. Conroy as vice president of operations and engineering; Mary Anne North as vice president of customer success; William Kober as vice president of sales for North and South America; Xavier Leroy as vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Kent Chu as vice president of sales for Asia-Pacific. Mimi Panagiotou will assume the role of chief technology officer, and Dave Gucwa will serve as product manager. The company provides high-shear fluid processing systems to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical and digital, personal care, and food industries.
