Focus on valves

Valves control fluid flow. They have fluid-retaining assembly, one or more ports between end openings, and moveable closure members that open. Valves can interrupt flow, regulate the rate of flow, or divert flow to another part of the system.

Butterfly valve

The Type 567 Butterfly Valve, available in large diameter sizes up to 12 inches, is a corrosion-resistant valve that incorporates a double eccentric operating principle that provides improved wear and easier operation over traditional eccentric style butterfly valves.  Typical applications include industrial water treatment, potable water treatment, swimming pools, water parks and waste water systems in such industries as chemical, chemical distribution, electroplating and power plants.

Key to the valve's double eccentric disk design is the off-center shaft that allows the disc to completely disengage from the disc seal, even when partially open.  This reduces seal friction and improves seal wear characteristics, resulting in longer service life, minimal maintenance and better protection against pressure surges.  The double eccentric design lowers the torque required to operate the valve.  And with no gap between the disc and the seal, particles wash away, preventing potential build-up that can obstruct flow. 

Other outstanding characteristics include bi-directional capability and a high psi rating not normally associated with large diameter sizes. The Type 567 also features a specially engineered body seal with a Q-shaped O-ring that eliminates the need for flat gaskets and is compatible with any flange adaptor design, including those with serrated faces.

Smooth start/exhaust valves

The Norgren Excelon P72F-2AC-PFA series of smooth start/exhaust valves are designed for use in the start-up and shutdown of air line equipment, reducing the possibility of equipment damage and hazards to the user.

This series is streamlined to block inlet air and exhaust downstream air when pilot signal is removed or when the optional manual lockout slide is closed. Features include in-line or modular installation, and optional padlocking of manual slide in closed position. The P72F-2AC-PFA is recommended for any application that employs air-operated devices. This device is ideally suited for automotive, electronic assembly and test system industries. This product is CE compliant.

SIL 3 certification

The company has received SIL 3 certification of several ranges of its Fisher valves to IEC 61508 standards. This certification enables users to boost plant availability and safety by using the technology-leading Fisher GX, Vee-ball, easy-e, and HP valves in Safety Instrumented Systems in up to SIL 3 loops, per IEC 61508.

The four control valve ranges have been certified by independent third party safety professionals EXIDA for on/off operation within a SIL 3 safety instrumented function. The valves can be packaged with the SIL 3 certified Fisher FIELDVUE DVC6000 SIS digital valve controller that enhances the safety function and monitors the health of the entire final control assembly.

Fisher valves are components of the smart SIS safety management solution, an extension of the PlantWeb digital plant architecture. The smart SIS provides an integrated approach to complete safety loops-from sensor to logic solver to final control element.
