2015 ISA Power Industry (POWID) Symposium Issues Call for Papers

Abstract submissions due 15 January 2015

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (07 January 2015) — The Program Committee of the 58thth Annual ISA Power Industry Division (POWID) Symposium has issued a Call for Papers, inviting authors, innovators, thought leaders and other professionals in the power-generation industry to submit abstracts for presentation consideration at the conference.

The symposium, the largest conference dedicated to automation, control systems and instrumentation in the power generation industry, will be held 7-11 June 2015 at the Kansas City Marriott in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

“Power Generation: Instrumentation and Control Solutions for Today’s Industry Challenges”

The theme of this year’s gathering, “Power Generation: Instrumentation and Control Solutions for Today’s Industry Challenges,” underscores the need to provide answers to the critical dilemmas in power generation, namely:

  • Maintaining reliability of power generation while managing fluctuating load demands (known as cycling)
  • Securing critical data and information through advanced cybersecurity
  • Meeting increasingly stringent environmental controls regulation

Attendees of the event are expected to come away with:

  • A greater awareness and understanding of recent innovations in instrumentation, controls and automation technologies
  • The know-how to apply security to control systems; improve power plant load demand response and low-load operation; and monitor and diagnose plant equipment and system reliability issues through the use of sensors and online monitoring technology.

Important deadlines

Prospective authors are asked to submit abstracts by 15 January 2015.  Other key dates to remember include:

  • 20 February 2015 - Draft paper due
  • 20 March 2015 – Rights and Responsibilities form due
  • 23 April 2015 – Final paper due
  • 30 April 2015 – Draft presentation due
  • 15 May 2015 – Final presentation due
