• Intelligent Device Management Committee charts ambitious work plan

The ISA108 standards development committee, Intelligent Device Management, emerged from a two-day planning session on 9-10 February in Orlando, Florida with a new work plan for 2015 and beyond.

The committee, co-chaired by Herman Storey of Herman Storey Consulting, LLC, and Kouji Demachi of Yokogawa Corp, will development standards and technical reports through a working group structure as follows:

    • Configuration and Revision Management
    • Diagnostics Utilization
    • Procedure Management
    • Calibration Management
    • Intelligent Valve Management

Work descriptions for the working groups are in development, with that of the first listed already approved by ISA108 in early March “to document work processes for the management of intelligent device configuration integrity, configuration adequacy, and configuration congruency for a full facility lifecycle.”

ISA108 was established to define standard templates of best practices and work processes for implementation and use of diagnostic and other information provided by intelligent field devices. The committee is completing a ballot in March on its first work product, a technical report covering the concepts and terminology necessary to understand and communicate effectively about intelligent device management.

ISA108 has scheduled two additional face-face meetings in 2015:
