Professional Members* are entitled to outstanding ISA benefits and privileges, are assigned to local sections, and are encouraged to become active volunteers through the many resources ISA offers. ISA offers many grades of membership to suit the varying needs of automation professionals.

Member dues: $130 US for one year, $245 US for two years, or $340 for three years.
ISA Professional Members have the opportunity to achieve numerous prestigious membership grade levels.
Do you have ten years of active work experience in the instrumentation, systems, and automation field? Your education and experience may qualify you to be an ISA Senior Member. An ISA member or applicant who has graduated from a baccalaureate engineering or science curriculum, with at least six years of active work experience in the instrumentation, systems, and automation field (two of which have been in a position of responsible charge) or who has graduated from an associate or two-year engineering or science curriculum, with at least eight years of active work experience in instrumentation, systems, and automation field (two of which have been in a position of responsible charge) may apply for this membership grade. If not a graduate, the member/applicant must have 10 years of active work experience in the instrumentation, systems, and automation field (two of which have been in a position of responsible charge). Current ISA members may apply for Senior Member. Non-members must join ISA first and then apply for Senior Member status.

Have you been an ISA member for at least 25 years? You may be eligible for the prestigious Life Member grade! Any member, Senior Member, or Fellow who has been a member of ISA in good standing for a total of at least 25 years and whose combined age and years of ISA membership equals or exceeds the sum of 90 is eligible to apply for Life Member grade. Life Member dues: free for approved members
The esteemed Fellow member grade is one of the ISA's highest honors. It can be earned by a Senior Member who is elected by a majority vote of the Society's Executive Board and who possesses outstanding and acknowledged engineering or scientific attainments; and who has been a Society Member for at least five years; and who has received peer evaluations leading to recommendation for election by the Society Admissions Committee.

Another celebrated member grade is the Honorary Member. Honorary Member is the highest honor bestowed by the Society. An Honorary Member has the rights and privileges of a Senior member.
Honorary membership is reserved for individuals (members or non members of the Society) whose support of, and/or contributions to, the advancement of the arts and sciences of instrumentation, systems, and automation are deserving of special recognition. An Honorary Member is exempt from payment of dues has all the rights and privileges enjoyed by all other grades of membership.
