    Castello di Belgioioso (PV), Italy
    Wednesday, 4 July 2018 - Thursday, 5 July 2018
    9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Following the 2017 success of the first AUTOMATION INSTRUMENTATION SUMMIT  (promoted by AIS and ISA Italy Section), the 2018 edition of the summit is sure to be well attended. Most exhibitors have already confirmed their support of the event, together with new companies that will present themselves for the first time. The splendid setting of the Castello di Belgioioso (PV) will once again provide the backdrop to the event, which was developed to share know-how and innovation among the main players in the automation, EPCs, instrumentation and valve industry. Interest generated about the event over the past many months combined with the commitment of everyone involved in organizing it are inspiring and motivating.

An encouraging response from the industry

Three months before the opening of the event, more than 50 companies have already confirmed their participation and the exhibition spaces are almost sold out. The list of exhibitors includes leading companies in the sector at national and international level: ABB, APT, ATV HIPPS ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY VALVE, AUGUSTA SYSTEM INTEGRATION, AUTRONICA FIRE AND SECURITY, BROOKS INSTRUMENT B.V., BULK, CROWCON DETECTION INSTRUMENTS, EMERSON PROCESS MANAGEMENT, ENDRESS + HAUSER, EUROCONTROLLI, FEAM, FLOWSERVE VALBART, FORES ENGINEERING, GIGA TECH, HAMLET/ASTAVA, IMI ORTON, IMI TRUFLO ITALY, INDRA, INOX RIVA, ITAL CONTROL METERS, KROHNE ITALIA, LIRA, MB VALVESERVICE, METSO ITALY, METTLER-TOLEDO, MICHELL ITALIA, MSA ITALIA,  NUOVA ASP, OLDHAM SAS - 3M, PRECISION FLUID CONTROLS, R. The organization, which has its roots in the history and traditions of Italian engineering, is an international player in engineering and construction, technology and licensing, energy and ventures-with a specific focus on plant engineering for the oil and gas, petrochemical and fertilizer sectors and with specific expertise in power generation and infrastructure sectors.

    The contribution of the speakers

Besides the exhibition area, the AUTOMATION INSTRUMENTATION SUMMIT boasts a top-quality conference section with leading speakers. The opening ceremony will be hosted by Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Maire Tecnimont, while the presidents of the two associations promoting the Summit, Diego Bertazzo of AIS and Matteo Finardi  of ISA Italy Section, will welcome the guests. Key speeches will be delivered by Prof. Maria C. Messa, Rector of the University Milano Bicocca; Paolo Coletti, Engineering Director of Techint Engineering & Construction, Engineering Center of Milan; and Federico Mazzanti, Manager Engineering Onshore Offshore of XSIGHT by Saipem.

    A classy choice

The choice to hold last year's event in such a unique venue, with its charming architecture and gardens, was appreciated by exhibitors and visitors who were able to organize their meetings in a distinctive, impressive environment.

This year, the exhibition rooms will fill both the ground floor and a wing on the first floor of the Castello di Belgioioso, while three rooms will be dedicated to the conferences: the famous SALA DEGLI STUCCHI on the main floor of the eighteenth-century castle and two rooms of the medieval building: the SALA DEGLI AFFRESCHI on the ground floor and the SALA DELL'INCOMPIUTA on the first floor.

The national and international media covering the event will take advantage of an equipped Press Corner within the tent structure. Please refer to the list on the Summit webpage. The event is supported by REGIONE LOMBARDIA, City of Belgioioso and Chamber of Commerce of Pavia.

The preliminary program and registration for the event is available on the website: https://automationinstrumentationsummit.com/ .

48th Annual Fundamentals of Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, and Control Training Course

The ISA Birmingham Section conducted its 48th Annual Fundamentals of Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, and Control training class 1-3 May 2018 within in the offices of Revere Control Systems in Birmingham.  The training facilities provided an excellent setting for this class.  The ISA Birmingham Section expresses its appreciation to Revere Control Systems for providing the venue and for its ongoing assistance and partnership relationship.

Providing the instruction were David Haynes (KBR), Geoffrey Johnson (Rockwell Automation), Barry Farris (PASS), Chris Sorensen (Southern Company Services), and Gerald Wilbanks (DES), all control system field experts in the Birmingham area.  These professionals volunteer their time and share their experiences and insights for the benefit of class participants.  The 15 class attendees came from many states (including Michigan, Utah, Indiana, South Carolina, Colorado, Alabama, and Iowa) and worked in a variety of fields (including instrumentation and control, power generation, chemicals, food processing, water treatment, pulp and paper, and building automation).  Among them were engineers, technicians, and others involved in maintenance and startups. The evaluation sheets indicated that the training was very well received.
