The inline FLT93L flow switch is suitable for relief valve leak monitoring in natural gas fractionation applications. It is a heavy-duty thermal dispersion flow, level, temperature switch. With an all-welded thermal sensing element, the FLT93L switch includes an advanced electronic control circuit, which is field configurable to satisfy any combination of application requirements. Unlike other flow switch technologies, the thermal sensor in this switch is suitable for both gases and hydrocarbon-based liquids.

The switch’s voltage output allows the user to “see” into the process and accurately set the desired trip point. The delta range between the switch’s two resistance temperature detectors provides a span for setting the switch trip points. The plant technician can set these flexible dual relays for any combination of flow, level, or temperature alarms.

The switch has a standard flow accuracy of ± 2% of the set point velocity over a ± 50°F (± 28°C) temperature range. Its repeatability of ± 0.5% reading is satisfactory for dependable operation in natural gas fractionation relief valve leak monitoring. All FLT93 series switches are temperature compensated for accuracy under rugged petrochemical plant operating conditions.The ST100 air/gas thermal flowmeter has a fast-response direct mass flow sensor for the close ratio control of natural gas and air feeds to support turbine safety and improve efficiency. Combined cycle power plants operate with both natural gas and steam turbines to produce up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel as traditional fossil-fuel power plants. The steam turbine is driven by the waste exhaust gases from the natural gas turbine. The ST100 thermal flowmeter allows the operator to achieve a direct ratio of control between the natural gas, the air, and waste gas fuels without any corrections for pressure, temperature, or density.

The thermal flowmeters measure the mass flow rates of both natural gas and air in line sizes from 1-inch gas pipes to air inlet ducts that are 2000 by 2000 mm. The ST100 can be applied not only on cold fresh air intakes, but also at preheated or combustion air feeds to the gas turbines. Their SIL rating is based on certified failure mode effects and diagnostic analysis reports.

The device's standard turndown is 100:1, with an optional 1000:1 turndown available. The in-line style configuration is for line sizes from 0.75 to 2 inches, and it measures flow rates from 0.01 to 3000 kg/hr. The insertion style is for line sizes from 3 inches to 6000 mm, and it measures flow rates from 1 to 1.000.000 kg/hr depending on line size. The ST100 flowmeter is compatible with operating temperatures from -40°F to 850°F (-40°C to +454°C).The SPM 401 series stainless-steel, media-isolate pressure sensors are especially suitable for low-pressure and smaller applications. Media-isolated sensors can operate in hostile environments with the sensitivity, linearity, and hysteresis of a silicon sensor. The sensor is compatible with 316L stainless steel, a type of steel that increases corrosion resistance, improves resistance to pitting from chloride ion solutions, and provides increased strength at high temperatures. The piezo sensor chip is housed in a fluid-filled cylindrical cavity and isolated from measured media by a stainless-steel diaphragm and body.
