- Certification Review
Certified Control System Technicians (CCSTs) calibrate, document, troubleshoot, and repair/replace instrumentation for systems that measure and control level, temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables.
The proper method for field mounting an instrument, connecting it to the process, and positioning it for proper operation would most likely be found on the:
B. instrument index
C. process flow diagram
D. installation detail drawing
The correct answer is D: "installation detail drawing".
The installation detail drawing shows details of a typical installation of the instrument in the correct manner. These details are provided so that the instrument will operate properly and issues which could potentially affect the measurement are avoided. For example, the installation detail drawing would show the proper positioning of a pressure transmitter and installation of the liquid impulse lines to prevent gas entrainment.
Installation details should include standard specifications for the welding of hook-up piping, heat tracing & insulation and pressure testing & painting requirements. The drawings should also include a material take off with part numbers, number and sizes of fittings, connection types, materials of construction, mounting type, etc.
