Summary

The President is responsible for leading the Executive Board, and, in conjunction with the ISA Executive Director, sets the tone of the Society. The president serves for three consecutive years with obligations as President-elect Secretary, President and Past President.

President

  • Serves as Chairperson of the Board of the Society
  • Presides over meetings of the Executive Board and Council of Society Delegates
  • Represents the Society to the membership and to the public
  • Reviews, with the Treasurer, the financial transactions of the Executive Director

President-elect Secretary

  • Acts as Secretary of the Society, taking minutes of all Society meetings
  • Serves as chief strategy officer of the Society, ensuring long range planning in support of the strategic activities of the Executive Board
  • Authorizes use of the Corporate Seal of the Society for appropriate documents

Immediate Past President

  • Serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI).
  • Serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Automation Federation (AF).
  • Supports the President in parliamentary procedures and standing rules during Society meetings.

Preferred Experience/Knowledge

  • Previous ISA leadership experience 
  • Strong public speaker
  • Strategic planning experience 

Time Requirements

  • ​Executive Board Meetings – approximately 3 hours per month
  • Officer Meetings – approximately 3 hours per month
  • Annual Leadership Conference – 4 days
  • Strategic Leader Meeting – 3 days
  • Executive Summit – 3 days
  • Various ISA Events – 15 days
  • Writing for ISA publications – approximately 2 hours per month
