Nitrogen Blanketing
Joe Dumoit, Valve Concepts
Since the introduction of the modern day blanketing valve in 1987, almost every vent and regulator manufacturer now offers some type of blanketing device.  Today the instrument engineer has a choice of using single regulators, multi-regulators, pilot operated regulators, spring operated blanketing valves and pilot operated blanketing valves.
The wrong decision on which device to use can increase the initial cost, nitrogen consumption and maintenance requirements.  So which device should he use? Three things are going to determine the decision; the normal relief device setting (which will be a function of the tank operating range), the total inbreathing requirement, and the available nitrogen supply pressure.
Joe Dumoit, Manager of Valve Concepts Houston Direct Sales Office, will be the speaker on this topic at July’s meeting.  Joe is the former co-owner of Durlam Associates and has been involved with Tank Relief Devices and Nitrogen Blanketing for over 23 years.  Valve Concepts website www.valveconcepts.com.  Joe Dumoit can be reached at (713) 271-7171
