Network Infrastructure Technology
The Industrial Network is shifting towards the Ethernet standard
just as the office network shifted in the 1990s.
Recent developments in Managed Switch technology, fiber
optics, and Industrial protocols have made Ethernet a practical,
low-cost alternative to traditional field buses.
With the convergence of IP technologies, Industrial
Automation devices, Security and Building Automation can all use
the same network infrastructure.
We will discuss existing Industrial Fieldbus technology vs.
Ethernet: Copper,
Fiber and Wireless. Switch,
Router and Gateway technology will be covered.
We will look at how Zone
Infrastructure design can be of benefit to production
environments. The
session will finish with a live demonstration of Rockwell,
Siemens, and Schneider PLCs operating on an Ethernet Fiber Optic
Ring.
The
target audience:
Instrumentation and Process Engineers, Electrical & Control
System Designers, IT Designers
Benefits
to attendees:
Attendees will learn basics of Network Infrastructure as it applies
to the Industrial Process and Manufacturing environments.
This is a technical session versus a Sales presentation
designed to allow the attendee to evaluate current technology
without bias to a vendor. The
attendee will learn the basics of designing an Industrial network.
