Municipalities - Moving from Control to SCADA Part 2 - The Selection Process
 
Last month you heard the why, where and what of SCADA, this month we tell you the how and who.  In this follow up presentation, we will review how to approach a migration to SCADA and how to select a good team to do the upgrade.  Many of the key issues are covered including: 

  • Reviewing your goals
  • In house vs. Consultant
  • Network and system design
  • TCP/IP networks and their benefits
  • Wireless, fibre and hybrid communications
  • Choosing the right products
  • Smoothing the commissioning bump
  • Getting operator buy-in
  • Common reasons for not achieving expectations

 A number of real examples will be presented of both new installations and upgrades.

Keith Laidlaw and Karen Cellucci of  Dakins Engineering Group Ltd.

Keith Laidlaw is the Engineering Manager of Dakins Engineering, is a licensed Professional Engineer and the chief designer of our on line, real time CT Calculation. He is a licensed professional engineer and heads up our team of SCADA Specialists.   With over 25 years in the Municipal waste/water industry he has developed standards and troubleshooting techniques which are the envy of the industry.  He actively participates in local and area conferences speaking on a wide variety of topics relevant to today's issues.

Karen Cellucci is the Area Sales Manager, and provides customer support.  She is a past Director of the Ontario Water Works Association, is a Member of ISA,  and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for the Eastern Ontario Waterworks Association.  She holds a degree in Electronics Technology, and is actively taking courses on Fiber and Network design.
