Guidelines and Information for Speakers
at the
September 2005 ISA Symposia and Exhibit

Speakers are asked to make their presentations as generic as possible.  The use of sponsoring products to illustrate a technical point is perfectly acceptable, but please bear in mind the educational aspect of this conference.  These educational sessions are not intended to be a platform for a sales presentation, but rather an opportunity to illustrate the standards, methods and advances in the technology that we all work in and use. This event is the best opportunity that we will have this year to widely network with our peers, suppliers and customers.

Please use the following guidelines when submitting information for inclusion in the event.  ISA will make printed versions available to symposia sessions, and publish the presentations on our website, with credits to the sponsoring employer or organization.

Provide a short abstract (under 200 words) for your topic that outlines the content, information goals, and structure of the presentation. Your abstract should indicate how and to what extent your presentation will illustrate the below five areas of information:

a)      Technology (what kind will you illustrate?)

b)      Innovative Ideas (what are the innovative ideas you’ll be highlighting?)

c)      Planning or Tools (what analytical techniques, software, checklists or communication techniques will be used?)

d)      Proofs (what project examples, analytical data, or testimony will be shown?)

e)      Audience benefits (what take-away metrics, tools, ideas, guidelines, processes will your audience get?)

Provide a brief CVs or resumes of proposed speakers

Sample presentation materials should also be sent electronically for distribution purposes to conference attendees via download from www.isatoronto.com following the conference. Attendees will be able to download all presentations from our web site after the conference.

A note about finances:

While the ISA Toronto Section has the goal of raising enough funds from this event to help the members to carry out the functions of the organization, the ISA membership is not directly benefiting financially from this event, and all ISA participation is unpaid and voluntary.  We are asking speakers to likewise volunteer their time for the benefit of the technology and the benefit of the infrastructure that enables all of us to do business in the area.  Fees for attending and exhibiting are by in large, used to pay for exhibit hall rental, advertising and show staff.  The ISA Toronto Section Board and Section Members wish to thank all those contributing to this event in time, effort and financially for what we hope will be the event of the year.
