Software – What is Reality?
This
presentation is focused on the software used to program today’s
plant floor controllers. These controllers include PLCs, PACs, DCS,
and safety controllers.
It
covers the history and development of today’s standard based
software showing how the current designs evolved from different
beginnings. The various languages available to program plant floor
controllers will also be discussed.
During
the presentation you will be exposed to a current, state of the art,
software application to demonstrate what you can expect from a modern
programming package.
A
glimpse at future developments concludes the presentation.

Donald
E. Mahony P.Eng - Business
Development Manager – Automation Solutions
Don
Mahony is a Business Development Manager for Schneider Electric Inc.
specializing in industrial control automation solutions. He has been
with the Schneider Electric group of companies for over 36 years
holding various sales and marketing positions during this time. His
current responsibilities include the sales and marketing of
Schneider’s automation products to Ontario’s industrial sector.
These responsibilities include: product seminars and demonstrations,
sales team support, and product training to sales and channel
personnel. Don has presented various papers and presentations within
the field of industrial control to such groups as ISA, IEE, IEEE, SME,
and various educational institutes.
Prior
to assuming his current responsibilities Don was the Country Marketing
Manager for Automation Products responsible for managing Schneider’s
complete line of programmable controllers, human-machine interfaces,
and communication products.
Don
received a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical
Engineering from University of Toronto in 1969 and is a registered
Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario. He
is also a member of the Toronto ISA chapter, and is the current
chairman of the Industrial Controls Section of EEMAC.
