Texas Channel Section 2011 Scholarships
The
Texas Channel Section gives a number of scholarships out each year at our Annual
Table Top Show. With four special awards honoring former members of the Texas
Channel Section, Bill Brown, Steve Godkin, Lou Errico,
and Stuart P Foster..
The Bill Brown Lifetime Achievement Scholarship
Bill Brown is our section's only "Life Fellow" member of ISA. He was
the initial organizer of the Texas Channel Section (1981) and its' first
President (1982). Bill was the Instrument Maintenance Supervisor at Diamond
Shamrock Chemical (now OxyVinyls) and retired in 1989. He stayed active in our
Section until 1994, and then his retirement activities consumed all his free
time.
This scholarship is awarded to an individual whose career path indicates
service to our industry.
The Steve Godkin Memorial Scholarship
Steve Godkin joined the Texas Channel Section in 1986 and began to assume
leadership roles on our Board in 1990. Steve served as President in 1994, Vice
President in 1995 and Section Treasurer until 1998, when he died unexpectantly.
Steve was not only very active in ISA but was equally involved in many church
and civic activities.
This scholarship is awarded to an individual who best represents Steve's
service to the community.
The Lou Errico Scholastic
Achievement Scholarship
Louis
V. "Lou" Errico (May 23, 1924 - February 21, 2010) was a Senior Life member, and served as the Honors
and Awards Chairman for the Texas Channel Section for the over fifteen years,
and has held every board position available since the section was formed in
1981.
Lou was an ISA member for over 50 years. He spent 4 years in the United States
Navy in ETO. He attended Princeton and then Prude where he earned his Electrical
Engineering degree. He and his wife Norma moved to Houston in 1962 where they
founded LEECO Engineering.
Preference for this scholarship is given to students who have displayed academic excellence throughout their high-school careers.
The Stuart P Foster Endowment
Scholarship

Stu
Foster spent his entire career in the Controls and Instrumentation business in
the Texas Gulf Coast and was recognized by customers, manufacturers, and
colleagues as a leader in the industry. Stu was a founding member of the Texas
Channel Section. During his career he served in a variety of leadership roles
for the Section. Stu led the Instrumentation Business at Puffer-Sweiven when he
passed away in 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Preference for this
scholarship is given to deserving students from the Houston area who intends to
pursue an engineering or applied sciences college degree.
