The easiest way to volunteer is with your local section. We have many positions that need to be filled due to moves by past officers. Even if you feel that you know what the position is, volunteer to assist a person that is currently doing one of the tasks and learn that job and become familiar with section and the people performing these tasks. You can visit www.isa.org and find a description of duties for each of our positions. If there are things that you do not like about the society, that may be because your input is missing. Programs are chosen primarily because one of the attending members knows the presenter and has heard the presentation, or knows the presenter has good presentations. Even if you do not know someone, you may know a topic and we can try to find a presenter, but you need to let someone know about the topic. You may even volunteer to do a presentation about a recent project and the succees you had with that project. We would also like to tour a facility or two each year. If your facility would allow us do that, please let us know. We always like to see new things or maybe even the old things that we have not seen before. Finally, encourage your co-workers to join ISA. It is one of the lowest priced professional memberships around and many employers will pay for the membership. This makes most of the standards available online for you to read and allows you to purchase often used standards at a reduced price along with the course offerings. We would like to complete our officer roster and discuss a few more items from our business side for the business meeting. Please attempt to volunteer and attend the meetings this year. As you can see from the letter head we do need a newsletter editor. The section needs to be your section, not someone else’s section.
