Summer 2002 Message.

Dear Friends,

Let me first start by introducing myself. My name is Kalpen Vachharajani and I am your division Program Chair for Year 2002. I work & live in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and no, it is not snowing here at present. I am writing you this on a very nice 32 deg C (90 deg F) day. I have been a member of ISA since 1995 and I am also the President of Sarnia Section (District 13). I became active in section activities just after I have joined ISA.

We are one of the fastest growing division of ISA. We became an official division in February of this year and we have close to 400 members by now.

At this time, I am pleased to announce that our division is able to plan 10 full sessions for the fall conference in Chicago, IL. I am very proud to offer you the full session program at our division’s very first “Big Conference”. Let me tell you, this year’s fall conference will be “TOO BIG TO MISS”. This is an opportunity for you to find the information you need to increase your knowledge and value in your company. The safety sessions planned for the fall conference will give you an opportunity to listen and learn from the experiences of world’s leading expert on Safety Instrumented Systems. There will be total 10 Sessions on 10 different themes including Software Safety, Valves in SIS, Design & Operation issues etc. I encourage every one of you to join me and others in Chicago and I promise you will return back as a winner. Visit www.isa.org for more detailed information on schedule of events and session details.

A call for papers for Safety Symposium in Houston in March, 2003 is out. Look for more information on our division website. Join your fellow industry experts in presenting the latest information on this vital area.

Quality technical programs are the essence of what the divisions are all about and we, your Safety Division Committee are committed to offer you just that. You can also help us by participating in the programs as a Speaker, as a Facilitator or even by attending it as a student. We welcome your suggestions on the paper topics. Also if you would like us to cover any other specialty area, let us know. We are open to ideas and really want to make your division membership experience rewarding and mutually beneficial.

Hope to see you in Chicago. Have a nice and safe summer.
