The Department of Paper Science and Engineering invites nominations and applications for the position of Department Chair at the rank of full professor, effective July 1998.
Qualified candidates must have appropriate administrative experience and a doctorate degree or equivalent in paper science, chemical engineering or a related field. They should be dedicated to undergraduate as well as graduate teaching, have earned significant recognition for research, and be committed to continuing research achievement.

The degree pursued by most students is a Bachelor of Science in Paper Science and Engineering that is similar in curriculum structure to a chemical engineering program. The Co-op Program, a five-year program in which students alternate semesters of study with work experience in the paper industry, is required for engineering management students and available to all Paper and Science Engineering students.
Currently, the Department has ten faculty and staff, 220 undergraduate majors and 15 candidates for the Master's degree.
The Department's equipment includes complete paper testing laboratories, a highly instrumented laboratory paper machine and other pilot-scale pulp and paper production equipment, a coating laboratory and a chemical engineering laboratory. The Department is backed by the Miami University Pulp and Paper Foundation - a non-profit organization established specifically to provide industry support via scholarships, equipment and advice on curriculum structure.
