Congratulations, Mike!

 

Michael H. Waller, the long-time Educational Chair for the ISA Pulp & Paper Industry Division will be recognized as an ISA Fellow at this fall’s ISA Expo 2005 Honors & Awards Banquet which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Downtown hotel on Monday, October 24.

 

Mike’s ISA Fellow citation reads:

 

“In recognition of contributions in development of instrumentation and controls in the pulp and paper industry”

 

Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1963, Masters of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1964, and his Professional Mechanical Engineer degree from MIT in 1966. Mike spent the next thirteen years at the Procter & Gamble Company and in 1978 was named the Senior Engineer for Papermaking

Between 1966 and 1968, while on leave from Procter & Gamble, Mike served as Captain in the US Army as the Executive Officer for Development & Proof Service at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Since 1979, Mike has been Professor in the Paper Science and Engineering Department at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio since 1979, Mike has been responsible for course presentations in the general areas of chemical engineering, papermaking and process control.

In 1986 Mike was Lecturer in the Paper Science Department, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in Manchester, England.

In addition to being an ISA member, Mike is also a member of Editorial Advisory Board for ISA Transactions. He is a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) and a member of the Editorial Review Board for TAPPI Journal as well a member of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) and a member of Paper Review Committee for Pulp and Paper Canada and Journal of Pulp and Paper Science.
