2004 ISA PUPID Fellow Award for Michel Ruel



I am extremely pleased to announce that a prolific author and presenter for the ISA Pulp & Paper Industry Division’s technical sessions at the (at least) last six ISA Technical Conferences & Symposia, Michel Ruel, p.Eng, the President of TOPControl in Levis, Quebec, Canada and a member of the Saguenay section. You can read a little bit about him in the rest of this article.

Michel Ruel graduated from Laval University in Ste-Foy, Québec, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, specializing in automation and process control. Michel is an I.S.A. member  since 1986 and is also a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (I.E.E.E.), Technical Association Pulp Paper Industry (TAPPI), and the Professionnal Engineer of Ontario (P.E.O.).

Michel has a long list of books, software, and magazine articles dealing with process optimization and loop tuning including the section on Plantwide Control Loop & Optimization in the 3rd and 4th Editions of the Instrument Engineers' Handbook Process Software and Digital Networks edited by Bela G Liptak,
