Conference Overview
This marks the forty-ninth annual meeting of the ISA Power Industries Division (POWID) and of I&C leaders from utilities (both private and government), vendors of I&C equipment, A/Es, consultants, and academia, including IPPs, smaller independent consultants, and other "new" categories. We welcome EPRI and our sponsor’s participation to provide the best forum focusing on advanced controls and on initiatives that will accelerate the employment of this technology in the power industry.
Depending on interest, the technical sessions will be followed with up to ten training seminars scheduled for June 7 to 9, 2006, in subjects such as basic control systems design considerations and documentation, control system network design, OPC, securing control systems, and Setpoints for Nuclear Safety Related Instrumentation. These classes are taught by ISA and other experts, and offered at special conference rates as a service to our attendees.
The POWID Awards Luncheon is scheduled for Monday, June 5, 2006. Society awards will be presented in recognition of excellence, including best papers, the Outstanding Achievement, Facilities, and Distinguished Service Awards.
Online Registration for the Conference will be available on the conference web page. If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the ISA Rodney Jones (919-990-9418 or rjones@isa.org ).
San Jose is a great place to meet your colleagues. The city also offers a good time for the family. There are many colorful attractions including Lick Observatory, museums, sports, and over 50 wineries. San Jose is centrally located for easy access to the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, from the Napa – Sonoma wine country to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
The training seminars, coupled with the practical results oriented discussions from the technical sessions, should provide an excellent experience for the power industry practitioner and manager alike. The ability to listen to and network with multiple vendor, industry, and regulatory experts who have more and less successfully done what you plan to do, is unmatched.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely yours,
Marjorie A. Widmeyer, 2006 Annual Meeting General Chair
