Welcome to ISA's Power Industry Divisions Information Center for the 2001 POWID conference. All conference committee members are working very diligently to furnish you with an excellent opportunity to experience a high quality technical conference. This conference offers managers, design engineers, technicians, suppliers and consultants to the power industry worldwide a forum expand their technical understanding of the power industry, networking with peers and attend a training class directed to today initiatives. For your convenience, this years conference is divided into four tracks. Track
1 Technical Sessions: Your peers and
coworkers in the power industry are writing papers this year for presentation
during the fifteen technical sessions being offered over the five-day
conference. Conference participant will be exposed to numerous interesting
and varied topics all focusing on the power industry. Each session will have
either multiple papers related to the session topic or panel discussions or
both. Ann E. Pauley, President of Westinghouse Process
Control, Inc., will be our featured keynote speaker and will open the
technical paper track by addressing "hot" topics pertinent to
today's power industry environment. Professional Development Hour (DPH) units will be available upon request for each technical paper presentation session. Track
2 Training: For those who want more than
just a listening experience and desire educational benefits, the conference
agenda also includes a variety of classroom style training courses. After
enjoying the paper sessions, the attendee can participate in a Wednesday one
day on site training classes presented by qualified ISA or industry
professional instructors. Each full paid conference attendee is eligible to
attend one of the Wednesday classes. Your conference fees include one class at
NO additional charge. On Monday afternoon there is also a free class on Instrumentation
and Control Maintenance. Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be granting for each training class. Track
3 Meetings: ISA and POWID members are
active in developing standards for use in power generation designs.
Championed by ISA, these standards represent the product of suppliers, owners
and consultants working together for the betterment of the power industry
worldwide. SP 77 and SP 67 standards are the product of the POWID leadership
with input from members and nonmembers worldwide. Conference attendees are
encouraged to join and assist in the development of these standards. Besides the standards meetings, EPRI will be conducting a Wednesday meeting for their affiliate members, NPPIEC for the nuclear industry and the Setpoints for Safety Related Instrumentation in the nuclear industry meeting. POWID will have a Long Range Planning meeting on Saturday and their Executive Committee meeting on Sunday. Track
4 Events: In appreciation for attending this conference and to
provide all attendees and their family members with a chance to interact with
their fellow power industry colleagues, POWID 2001 will be hosting a
reception on Sunday afternoon specifically designed to enhance your stay at
Disney World and kickoff the conference activities. Watch for Disney
characters and photo opportunities during the reception. Additionally the
host committee is working with Walt Disney World to provide guided tours of
the Underground City and the Reedy Creek power station. On Tuesday afternoon
the committee has provided the golfers attending the conference to partake of
a relaxing round of golf at the Walt Disney World championship Palm golf course.

This conference will be hosted on the beautiful properties of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida July 7-13. Headquarters for the conference is the Coronado Springs Convention Center.
