MARCH 2000 ORANGE COUNTY PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
One aspect of ISA membership that is often overlooked is the opportunity to make a contribution to ISA Standards. As you may know, ISA writes standards and recommended practices that provide practical guidance to engineers, designers, and technicians for our industry. Volunteer members form the knowledge base that develops the ISA standards. Working on standards provides opportunities to develop your personal network, to learn from your peers, to achieve personal and professional growth, and to assist your company in becoming more cost effective. Participation can come at any level: providing ideas for new and revised standards, reviewing draft standards, serving as a liaison to other standards-writing organizations, or serving on a standards committee. Reviewing and participating in standards work can be very rewarding. So give some thought, as an ISA member, to participating in the standards activities related to your area of expertise. You can request more information, make a suggestion for a standard or become a volunteer to the committees by E-mailing: standards@isa.org.
Our meeting this month is an interesting topic related to change management. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on March 8th.
Troy Johnson, President, PE - ISA Orange County Section
