DECEMBER 1999 ORANGE COUNTY PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Our meeting last month was very interesting, I hope you didn’t miss it. Mr. Larry Bell provided an interesting overview of integrated access control and intrusion detection systems. This was a different topic for our section and it seemed to apply to many different environments including, the office, health care, educational and government settings.

Our educational event, Windows 2000 Professional was a very timely topic. This new operating system is being billed as the best desktop and mobile operating system for business of all sizes. It's the easiest, most reliable Windows yet because it combines the reliability, security and manageability of Windows NT workstation with the best business features of Windows 98. We should all be seeing it on our PC’s shortly I’m sure.

December 4th, 1999 will be the Orange County & Los Angeles Sections jointly held Christmas Event. I do look forward to seeing you all there and sharing a little holiday spirit together!

In January (14th to 19th) the ISA President’s Winter Meeting will be held in Vancouver, BC Canada. If you are currently a section volunteer or would just like to learn all about how the Sections & Society are run, you should attend this event. It’s quite a learning experience.

This is the last newsletter of the year and the last in 1999. Thank you for all of the fun and interesting conversations I have had with many of you over the first half of my term in office. It has truly been a pleasure to serve this Section and I look forward to kicking off 2000 with high spirits. Have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year!

Troy Johnson, President, PE - ISA Orange County Section
