Happy New Year! By the time this newsletter reaches you, we will be in 1999. I wish you all a wonderfully happy and prosperous New Year.  We have completed half of what has turned out to be a successful term of office. I extend my gratitude to all of you for supporting me throughout the first half of my term. I will need your support for the balance of my term during this fiscal year. I hope you all will support me as you have done in the past.

We celebrated our Christmas Celebration and Honors & Awards Banquet Dinner and Dance on December 6, 1998 at the Amada Club in Buena Park. We had about 150 attendees. Congratulations to George Thuro, senior control systems engineer at Orange County Sanitation District who received our Don Zee Award and to Sandy Melville from the Los Angeles Section who received the Jake Groenewegen Award.

Those of you who are interested in becoming certified as CCST trained technicians, please note the following dates for applying and the test date.

Mark your calendars—the District 11 Workshop will be held at the Holiday Inn Casino Boardwalk in Las Vegas from April 23-25, 1999. I hope many of you can join us.
