Todays program "PLC Protocols" attracted a very large audience. This demonstrates the fact that Program Topics are key to drawing a lot of members to the ISA meetings.
The program topic for September will be "Advanced Controls" presented by Honeywell.
October program will focus on Object Oriented Automation. November meeting will be held at Cal State University, Fullerton. The November Program will consist of inviting managers from companies to give an overview of Control Systems.
Not Present No Report
Bob is working on the first education seminar to be held on Saturday November 14th 1998. He had a difficult time trying to deal with Horizon Learning Center. The focus is to establish a "hands on" computer class such as Windows 98.
Another option is to setup a Fieldbus Training Class but the cost may be too high ($290). There will be no short courses this year and the budgeted fund for this ($35,000) will be distributed amongst the three Southern California sections. This will help reduce the seminar cost. It was agreed that education seminars should be limited to $50 per person.
Don Zee submitted a handout on Section Membership Statistics.
One of the membership goals is to convert existing membership into senior members.
Don Zee needs a membership committee person to call expired members to renew their membership.
Mai announced that there were 57 ISA members in tonights meeting and there were 9 non ISA members. She will E-mail the names of those non-members to Bis.
Carl Skokan was not present.
Our section received the Gold Award ($500).
9. Student Section Jim Cody / Hrag Ohannessian
Jim Cody has been very involved at work and was not present. Hrag will set a meeting for Bis with the student section chair of Cal State Fullerton.
Hrag will be unavailable for the meetings of October, December and January due to business commitments

He will inquire about free advertisement of the ISA meetings in the Business Section of the LA Times Orange County (Monday Paper)
The Orange County ISA Web Site is underway. Microsoft FrontPage will be used for the development tool (Purchased by Bob Harrison). Bob is planning to meet with Michelle Carillo who has done some of the initial Web Page to take possession of the existing Web files.
By next meeting, there will be more information on the development and maintenance of the Orange County ISA Web Page.
John will be going to Houston October 17 through 22 to represent our section in the Society Delegates Meeting.
On our next meeting, John will present the issues to be discussed in Houston and ask the Board Members for decisions.
Bis submitted an E-mail message that he received regarding membership section codes mix-ups. He requested that we should be aware of the Section Code on the membership application form (ISA Orange County Section should be selected)
Bis also submitted the expenses report of the Presidents visit to Southern California on July 8, 1998. The Net Loss was $0.89.
