Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
October 3, 2001

Attendees: Parrish Lovell, Mike McNeill, Jake Jacobsen, Herb Short

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the DownEast Maine Section of the ISA was held Wednesday evening, October 3, 2001 at Le Garage restaurant in Wiscasset, Maine.

Vendor's Day 2002 -

A keynote speaker having an instrumentation and control background would be very helpful. H. Short to contact Ms. Jill Shoof at the University of Maine. Jill spoke at the National Engineers Week Banquet held in Gorham two years ago. Her expertise is the design and testing of harsh weather instrumentation.

Membership and Turnout -

An effort will be made by members of the Executive Committee to contact all those listed on the membership roles. This is an effort to increase attendance for the next Section meeting and for next year's Vendor's Day show in Bangor.

Newsletter -

A Section newsletter was not issued last month as the scheduled tour of the McCain's Food Processing Plant in Easton, Maine was cancelled. Parrish mentioned that additional advertisements are needed, as well as a President's Letter, meeting minutes, and articles for the next issue.

DownEast Maine ISA Web Page -

H. Short has recruited the assistance of Ms. Jody Lincoln. Jody will work with the Executive Committee and Laura Crumpler at ISA headquarters in generating the pages.

Scholarships -

It was decided to reduce the number of scholarships for 2002 to three (3) $1000 and (4) $500 for a total of $5,000. This will preserve funds in the treasury for expenses related to the Vendor's Day show.

Action Items:

  • Jake will maintain contact with Bangor Auditorium.

  • Mike will contact Paul Geisler to begin preparations for a Section visit to Old Town Canoe in November. Herb will contact Bangor restaurants, such as Miller's, for a possible Business/Dinner meeting following the tour.
  • Herb will maintain contact with Jody Lincoln for Website Construction.
  • Herb will contact the University of Maine/Electrical Engineering Department to see if Ms. Jill Shoof would be interested in presenting the Keynote Address at the 2002 Vendor's Day event.

Respectfully submitted,
Herb Short
