Meeting Minutes Thursday, November 13th, 2003 On Thursday November 13, eleven members of the Downeast Maine ISA Section met at the Carrabassett Valley Snowfluent Plant adjacent to Sugarloaf USA. David Keith gave us a description of the treatment process as well as a tour of the plant. Some highlights of this facility:
The plant was the first of its kind in the world to use snowmaking as a means for processing effluent (the snow is not used for skiing) Plant effectively acts as a secondary treatment plant servicing Sugarloaf and approx. 50 additional residential and commercial customers Effluent is processed through spray irrigation during summer months and through snowmaking in winter months GIS and GPS technologies are utilized to optimize servicing of individual pump stations, wetwells, etc. Plant is very self-sufficient, with 3-phase power generated on-site by means of a diesel generator and operations and maintenance performed by 2 full-time employees Respectfully submitted:
