ABOUT THE CINCINNATI SECTION
The Cincinnati Section, of what was then the Instrument Society of America, was established in 1947. Over 50 years later, the "Cinci Section" is still strong, boasting nearly 350 members.
The Section is part of ISA's District 5 that also includes Columbus, Cleveland, Parkersburg, Rochester, Dayton, Buffalo, and others. Our District VP for 2002-2003 is Dawn Schweitzer with the Rochester Section.
Locally, the Section has a board of 13 members with committees within that manage the different operations of the section including programming, education, marketing, standards & practices, membership, publishing, etc. Board nominations are taken from the Section every January and February, with elections in March. Members that want to be more involved with the Section are encouraged to contact current board members about joining.
The Section has regularly scheduled events throughout the year. The Section Year begins each year in August with the annual Golf Outing. In September, the Section kicks-off the technical programs with a tour of a local manufacturing facility or other plant. From October through March, the Section has technical programs held at a local hotel conference center or other place. These programs are scheduled to educate members on a relevant topic, plus provide members a chance to socialize with others from different companies to build relationships and share ideas. The technical programs are generally the first Monday of each month. In December, the Section hosts a holiday party so that generally has a non-technical speaker or other entertaining activity. Spouses or guests are encouraged to attend the holiday party.
In April, the Section alternates every year with hosting an Automation and Control Expo on the odd years and ISA Training Classes on the even years.
The Section Year wraps up in May with the Past Presidents and Honors & Awards Banquet or Annual Meeting, for short. This is generally a fun evening of dinner, entertainment, and socializing. Once again, guests and spouses are encouraged to attend.
The Cincinnati Section welcomes new members and encourages all Instrument & Control Professionals, members and non-members, to attend our monthly technical programs. Our Section's goal is to enable our members to learn more about things that affect the ever-changing profession they have chosen, while providing an atmosphere that fosters relationship building between different companies and industries in the Cincinnati Area.
Please check this website monthly to view details on the next technical program, plus register online to attend program.
Thank you,
The ISA Cincinnati Section Board
