Anti-counterfeiting strategies in the supply chain
Counterfeiting has become a global epidemic. Counterfeit products are ubiquitous, penetrating multiple geographies and industry segments. Data recently published by the US Department of Homeland security illustrates the growth of the counterfeit problem. Counterfeit seizures by the US Border Control have increase by 20% per annum over the last 11 years.
Historically, counterfeiting has been most prominent in the apparel, accessories, footwear and media industries. Today, the range of sectors impacted by counterfeit products has become increasingly broad.
In many industries, the response to counterfeiting has been largely reactionary, with interventions designed to limit revenue loss, and to enable enforcement of anti-counterfeiting laws.
However, the threat to patient safety in the Pharmaceutical industry is leading to regulatory intervention to safeguard the supply chain though serialization
In this presentation, Barry will provide an overview of the serialization technology and review its application in other industries
