Three-phase AC induction motors play an integral part in the mechanical systems of virtually every industry. The main problems which affect AC induction motors are the result of unequal magnetic forces between one side of the motor and the other. The magnetic force imbalance can come from variations in the air gap between the stator and the rotor or from variations in the current in the stator or the rotor, or a combination of both. Part 1 will focus on the variations of AC current due to electromagnetic problems. The purpose of this course is to cover AC induction motor components and their functions, the fundamental defect fequencies; how to set up the data collector or analyzer to sufficiently capture correct vibration data; how electromagnetic problems cause unequal magnetic forces due to variations in the current flow in either the stator or the rotor; and how electromagnetic problems from a broken wire or connector can be seen in a vibration spectrum. This course outlines: Induction motor components Electromagnetic problems
