ISA Announces 54th Annual ISA POWID Symposium

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (14 February 2011) – The International Society of Automation (ISA) announces that the 54th Annual ISA POWID Symposium will be held 5–10 June 2011 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Concord (near Charlotte), North Carolina, USA. The event is sponsored by the ISA Power Industry Division.

The theme for the event, “Power Generation Automation Today: Beyond the Original Intention,” will provide power generation industry professionals with information on the latest innovations in controls, instrumentation, cybersecurity, Smart Grid, regulatory issues and variable energy technologies, which impact power generation delivery systems.

The ISA POWID Division anticipates more than 70 technical papers during joint sessions, with a fossil and nuclear focus, to be presented over the three-day period.

  • Christopher Guith, vice president for policy at the US Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy
  • Tim Roxey, manager of critical infrastructure protection, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
  • Ken Thomas, former Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Technical manager, current consultant to the nuclear industry
