Overview

Length: 90 Minutes

Part 2 in the Industrial Ethernet Series.

Attend any tradeshow, read any trade magazine, and you can't help but notice that Ethernet is the new Holy Grail of process control - "It will connect everything and solve all interoperability problems." There isn't a controls vendor that doesn't have something using Ethernet in their catalog, including Ethernet Highways, Ethernet I/O and, of course, Ethernet links to the business world.

But one big question remains… "Can Ethernet really be used in the field and replace contenders like Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus and DeviceNet?" Can it be the single ultimate fieldbus?

In this virtual seminar, industry expert Eric Byres strips away the myths and exposes the realities surrounding the use of Ethernet in industrial environments. You will learn how to make informed decisions on using this exciting new technology in your factory, reducing your risks and improving your efficiency and production.
Key Benefits

  • Understand why additional protocols are needed on top of Ethernet and how vendors are fighting to define them.
  • Know your options for Ethernet cable and connectors in harsh industrial environments.
  • Learn what you can do today to build the best industrial control system possible and avoid instant obsolescence or being locked in the past.
  • Be able to make informed decisions on how to use Ethernet technology in your factory.
  • Cut through the vendor hype and learn Ethernet's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Avoid costly mistakes when selecting process networks.

About Archived Web Seminars

In today's work environment, there is limited time devoted to training. ISA now offers you the option of accessing a Web seminar at a time that is convenient for you.

ISA's archived Web seminars give you the same benefits as attending the live seminar broadcast, including hearing the instructor while simultaneously viewing the PowerPoint presentation. The only difference between the two is that the archived seminars do not allow for participation in a live Q & A session.

NOTE: You have three (3) weeks from the time you purchase the web seminar to complete.

Special Note! You can get this seminar and many more for free if you join ISA as a full member. Click here for details.

Equipment & System Requirements

Archived Web seminar users will be able to view interactive, rich media presentations over the Web using industry-standard browsers and streaming media players. Presentations are viewed using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, as well as Windows Media Player. There is no proprietary software to download. In addition to streaming audio, and high-resolution slides, the archive Player uses thumbnails of the slides to provide quick, non-linear navigation presentations. You will need:
