Back to the basics of Power Point presentation techniques - Feb 15, 2008
Reviewer: Jeff Blair
Gruhn captures the basics of making an effective presentation. The overall message is keep your presentations simple and manageable. Any presenter will find this quick course helpful; excellent references are given for further reading.
Remember that the presenter is the presentation--not the Power Point. Gruhn emphasizes this by showing that gaudy, overly technical or graphic intense slides will draw away from your message and confuse the audience. He also highlights common speaker tendencies, such as jiggling change with your hands in your pockets, excessive audible "ummms," to avoid when presenting.
Gruhn practices what he preaches. His Power Point was quick paced, provides several "take-away" points to apply immediately, didn’t distract from his verbal message, and looked great.
