ISA Technician Training Boot Camp

3–7 June 2013

ISA Technician Training Boot Camp combines a unique technical training course—minimum lecture and maximum hands-on equipment instruction—with bonus features, including a plant tour, technical library, and social event, to enhance the learning experience and to maximize knowledge gained.

This week of intensive training covers a broad range of technical topics, starting with basic instrumentation fundamentals and leading to the latest advances in smart technology.

ISA Automation Engineering Survival Training

10-14 June 2013

Automation Engineering Survival Training comprises a week of intensive, expert-led lecture and hands-on instruction covering practical, real-world automation survival skills.

In a fast-paced and rigorous manner, the training covers an array of vital subject matter—from process measurement fundamentals to advanced automation. Bonus features include a plant tour, technical library, and student networking event.

ISA Safety Instrumented Systems Boot Camp

ISA SIS Boot Camp offers two back-to-back weeks of escalating process safety training: two fundamental safety courses in week one and two advanced safety courses in week two. Eligible participants will be able to take one of ISA’s SIS certificate program exams on28 June 2013.

Note: Course registrants can choose to register for one or any combination of the four safety courses. This will allow you to choose and attend the courses that best meet your specific process safety training needs.

Part 1– 17-21 June 2013

Learn the fundamentals of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) with these two expert-led ISA process safety training courses

  • Professionals seeking to prepare for more comprehensive, multi-day courses in design, analysis and justification of SIS
  • Individuals wanting to receive the designation of ISA84 SIS Fundamentals Specialist

Process Safety Fundamentals (EC50CT)

Process Safety Fundamentals teaches technicians and operators the principles governing the use of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and reviews basic definitions, concepts, standards, and the role of personnel in the Safety Life Cycle of SIS. Emphasis is placed on the importance of functional safety, maintenance in the operational phase, and satisfying industry standards and legal requirements.

Safety Instrumented Systems Design, Analysis and Justification (EC50)*

Safety Instrumented Systems Design, Analysis and Justification outlines the engineering requirements of safety instrumented systems for the process industries. Students will learn how to determine safety integrity levels and evaluate whether proposed or existing systems meet the performance and documentation requirements defined in the ISA 84 (IEC61511) standard. Registrants can take the course only or, for those seeking certification, can arrange to take the course and the ISA84 SIS Fundamentals Specialist exam.

Part 2– 24-28 June 2013

Take your Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) knowledge to new heights with these two advanced, expert-led ISA process safety training courses

Who Should Attend?

  • Professionals interested in optimizing system performance, and saving their companies time and money
  • Professionals interested in performing system design and analysis, and saving their companies time and money
  • Individuals wanting to receive the designation of ISA84 SIL Selection Specialist
  • Individuals wanting to receive the designation of ISA84 SIL Verification Specialist

Advanced Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Selection (EC52)*

Advanced Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Selection, a follow-up course to EC50 and a requirement for the reveals how to optimize system performance and provides hands-on examples of SIL selection.  Registrants can take the course only or, for those seeking certification, can arrange to take the course and the ISA84 SIL Selection Specialist exam.

Advanced Design and SIL Verification (EC54)*

Advanced Design and SIL Verification (EC54), a requirement for the, focuses on analyzing system technology and configuration to determine required SIL and whether systems are safe and meet performance requirements. Registrants can take the course only or, for those seeking certification, can arrange to take the course and the ISA84 SIL Verification Specialist exam.

*SIS Certificate Exams

As part of ISA SIS Boot Camp, course attendees can choose to sit for one of the ISA84 SIS Certificate programs on the Friday, 28 June 2013, of the second week.

  • EC50 is a requirement for the ISA84 SIS Certificate 1: SIS Fundamentals Specialist program
  • EC52 is a requirement for the ISA84 Certificate 2: SIL Selection Specialist program
  • EC54 is a requirement for the ISA84 Certificate 3: SIL Verification Specialist program

There is no application requirement for Certificate 1; however, you must register for the exam when you register for the EC50 course or SIS Boot Camp event. Certificate 2 and Certificate 3 require an application that must be submitted to ISA no less than six (6) weeks prior to the course date (EC52 for Certificate 2, EC54 for Certificate 3, or SIS Boot Camp for either certificate) and you must register for the exam when you register for the corresponding course.
