Description:

This is the last of six seminars focusing on the Control Systems Engineer (CSE) PE exam. It will give you a quick review of the safety instrumented systems basics. It will give you a quick review of safety instrumented system basics, architecture, configuration, and safety instrument functions. Topics include area classification, installation practices, and considerations for safety integrity levels (SILs).

You will be able to:

• Explain the function and use of safety systems
• Review installation concerns for safety instrumented systems
• List terminology and characteristics of configuration and programming
• Review function and impact of safety instrumented systems
• Define how these topics can be anticipated in the exam
• Explain classification for hazardous areas
• Identify areas of focus for more effective studying in:
  • The primary functions for safety systems
  • The relation to regular process control
  • Considerations for good safety and control
  • The most appropriate installation practices

You will cover:

• Safety System Basics and Definitions
• Separation from Basic Process Control
• Safety System Architecture
• Configuration and Planning
• Safety Instrumented Systems (SISs)
• Hazardous Areas Installation Consideration
  • In Domain V of CSE Exam (12 questions or 15% of exam)

Who Should Attend?

• Engineers with four or more (4+) years in control systems engineering
• Individuals who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Employees of engineering companies
• Engineers working with industrial companies

Equipment & System Requirements:
