ISA’s CyberU online instructor-led training courses offer the benefit of a high quality ISA training course with the added advantage of studying at your own pace in the office, at home, or while traveling.
This online course utilizes online training modules, additional text materials, online evaluations, and e-mail discussions. Students will have access via email to an instructor and an opportunity to participate in live Q&A sessions with the instructor and other class participants.
This CyberU course runs for six (6) weeks. You will have access to seven online modules for the web/audio sessions. Each module takes approximately 60 minutes. Your course syllabus will guide you through the course modules and provide assignments and the schedule for the live Q&A sessions.
This course presents an overview of the principles and applications of modern pressure, level, and density measurement systems, emphasizing underlying instrument technologies; device performance and design; and specification, selection, installation, and maintenance requirements for instruments and transmitters.

Week/Module 1: Measurement Principles
Covers Hydraulic Principles, Pressure Measurement, Pressure Scales, Manometric Principles, Introduction to Calibration Principles, Calibration Standards, Types of Error, and Calibration Adjustments
Week/Module 2: Primary and Secondary Pressure Transducers
Covers Pressure Transducers and Transmitters; Pressure-Responsive Elements; Differing Technologies for Pressure Measurement; Mechanisms for Isolating Pressure Instruments from Dangerous, Hot, or Corrosive Fluids; Pressure Switches; Differential Pressure Measurements
Week/Module 3: Technologies for Communication and Introduction to Level Measurement
Covers Concept of Representing Analog Measurements as Electrical Signals, Transmitter Technology, Digital "Smart" Transmitters and Bus Standards, Fieldbus and HARTTM, Level Measurement Issues, Tank Gauging Technologies, Level and Relate to the Need for Measurement, Visual Measurement and Types, Automatic Tank Gauging, Definitions and Applications
Week/Module 4: Level Measurement Technologies
Covers Head Level Measurement, Open and Closed Tank Applications, Electrical Measurement of Level, Signal Conditioning and Configurations, Ultrasonic Level Measurement Technologies, Radar Level Gauges
Week/Module 5: High-Tech Level Measurement and Hydrostatic Tank Gauging
Covers Laser Level Measurement, Other Optical Technology, HTG and ATG Definitions, Applications, Tank Calibration Methods, HTG Measurements, HTG Accuracy
Week/Module 6: Transmitters and Density Measurement
Covers Definitions, Technologies Used in Electrical Transmitters, Pneumatic Transmitters, Applications

Your instructor has pre-recorded each course module so that you can access the course presentations on your schedule. Each module is a web/audio session that takes approximately 60 minutes.
