  • Course seat times vary for each individual topic.

  • Individuals receive a certificate of completion and 0.4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) upon successful completion of final course examination.

This course was designed to help students understand the basic concepts of process control, the principles of single feedback loop and advanced loop controls, and the components used in feedback control loops.

Objectives:

  • Select the four common process variables
  • Identify the three consecutive steps that occur in any controlled process
  • Differentiate between the actions of controlled and manipulated variables in a process
  • Select the definitions of the terms upset, feedback, and feedback control loop
  • Identify key components used in most feedback control loops
  • Identify the correct order of events in a typical feedback control loop
  • Select the definition of response time and identify the difference between sensor response and system response
  • Differentiate between accuracy and precision as they apply to sensor operation
  • Identify the purpose of a transmitter
  • Select the most common methods of transmitting standard instrument signals
  • Match electronic and pneumatic transmissions with their standard signal ranges
  • Match the common types of final control elements to their functions
  • Identify the differences between single and advanced feedback loop control processes
  • Identify the operating principles of cascade, ratio, and feedforward controls

* NOTE: Once you access the course, you will have three weeks to complete the course and final exam.
