Overview: Basic Process Control Series - Instrumentation Symbols

This course identifies the symbols found on process and instrumentation diagrams. The process represented by a simple loop diagram is explained.

Objectives:

  • Identify type of instrument represented by various shapes of symbols on the P&ID
  • Recognize where an instrument is mounted based on the type of line used with the symbol
  • Describe the significance of a loop identification number in terms of troubleshooting problems
  • Trace a simple loop from a P&ID, identifying the symbols and lines and their meanings.

* NOTE: Once you access the course, you will have three weeks to complete the course and final exam.
