Description:

This course introduces model predictive control. The emphasis is on both the functionality of the technique as well as the economic benefits that can be obtained from its use. The participant should be able to build a simple controller after completing this course.

You will be able to:

  • Explain the design and simulation of model predictive control
  • Identify processes that could benefit from model predictive control
  • Estimate benefits of model predictive control
  • Explain the basic concepts of model-based control and how/where it is applied
  • Define the principles of model predictive control
  • Design, configure, and simulate a controller using a model predictive control package
  • Estimate the benefits of applying advanced process control
  • Compare features, benefits, and applicability of model-based control vs. advanced regulatory control

You will cover:

  • Model Predictive Control: The mathematics and Terminology | Configuration and Simulation of Model Predictive Controllers | Implementation of model predictive controllers
  • Cost/Benefits Prediction for Advanced Process Control

Who should attend:

  • Process Control Engineers
  • Process Engineers
