Automation Applications in Bio-Pharmaceuticals
The best book for the Biotech automation engineer - Jul 31, 2009
I recently met George via email during the organization of the ISA EXPO 2009 as he will be presenting at the show, and I am on the process automation committee. I know Joe by reputation and attended a lecture and presentation he made when I was working at Eli Lilly.
After a brief introduction, the authors dive right into hardware and software. From instrumentation to software design, they have a very thorough review of the design criteria required in the industry. Chapter 3 discusses applications. From utilities to bioprocess filtration, they are all covered and explained in detail, including typical instrumentation and control strategies. Chapter 4 focuses on project management, while Chapter 5 addresses computer system validation. A book on automation for biopharmaceuticals would not be complete without a discussion of batch control and that is what Chapter 6 covers. The book concludes with various advanced techniques in the industry.
