Training
Take advantage of a wealth of subject matter expertise at this year’s 59th International Instrumentation Symposium!
Combine your IIS symposium experience with the addition of an expert-led training course. Once again, this year’s event allows you to take advantage of the following educational opportunity:
Industrial Wireless Systems (IC85C)
Description:
Wireless systems and wireless technologies have advanced to the point where stable, robust and secure networks are ready for deployment in industrial settings. This course will cover the most relevant details associated with industrial wireless systems with an emphasis towards how the various technological choices coexist, interoperate and interact with each other. Numerous examples of real-world deployments are covered for facilities such as SCADA systems, petrochemical plants, electrical power generation, and transmission systems. For more course information, click here.
Your Instructor:
Wayne Manges currently directs the US Department of Energy’s Industrial Wireless Program for UT-Battelle at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), focusing on the needs of hard industries from DOE’s Industrial Technologies Program. With 30 years at ORNL, Wayne works extensively with steel, paper, and other industries to bring robust, wireless technology to their markets and is committed to the deployment of integrated systems that solve real problems. He has worked on systems from one-of-a-kind uranium enrichment processes, intelligent robotics, manufacturing, and is currently working on the application of his expertise in systems to the development and deployment of intelligent wireless sensors.

Availabilty is limited on each activity, so you will be asked to place them in order of preference. The sooner you sign up the better chance you have of getting your first choice! Further details of the program are given below.
Choice of Four Attractions
All tours will start from the Wyndham Hotel Foyer.
At the conclusion of each tour you will be taken to the dinner venue by bus.
Following dinner you will be returned to the Wyndham Hotel by bus.
Choice 1: Tour of Great Lakes Brewery–Tour limited to 20 people

Enjoy a guided tour through Cleveland's famous brewery. You will be picked up at the hotel and given a short ride to the brewery. Then you will be given a 45 minute guided tour through the process of making some of the finest beers in the world. After the tour you will enjoy a complimentary taste of two styles of beer. Then you will go to the main bar for optional purchases of additional beer. this tour is limited to 20 people each of whom must be over 21 years of age. At the conclusion of this 2-hour event, you will be taken to the dinner venue.
Choice 2: Tour of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Cleveland is the birthplace of Rock and Roll music. It is also the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. You will be picked up from the hotel and delivered to this famous building where you will have up to two hours to tour the exhibits and displays. Enjoy the memories and memorabilia as you tour. At the conclusion of the tour your bus will take you to the dinner venue.
Choice 3: Tour of the SS William G Mather

On this tour you will be transported by motor coach to the Steamship William G Mather, an actual steamship that plied the waters of Lake Erie transporting iron ore from the upper Great Lakes to Cleveland for processing at one of its many steel mills. After a 10 minute bus ride you will have approximately two hours to take a self-guided tour of the ship. Visit the cargo holds, crew quarters and wheelhouse to experience life on this venerable ship which will be open exclusively for this group. Docents will be on hand to tell her story.
