Society Officer and Vice President Nominations

Nomination for a Society officer position is an honor accorded to only a small percentage of the ISA membership. Service as a Society Officer provides the opportunity to gain management experience, enhance career development, and network with peers on an international level. In addition, employers receive exposure as a result to this level of Society activity. Canidates must be a Senior, Life Senior, Fellow, Life Fellow, or Honorary Member of ISA. You may refer to the Member Directory to confirm a potential candate's member status.

Nomination Process

District Vice President

• District Vice Presidents nominations are coordinated by the District Nominating Committee.
• Any member of the District may recommend a candidate.

President-elect Secretary, Treasurer, and Department Vice President

• President-elect Secretary, Treasurer and Department Vice Presidents nominations are submitted to the ISA Nomination Committee.
• Any ISA member may submit a nomination. In addition to at-large nominations, ISA has established an Officer Search Committee to recommend candidates for President-elect Secretary, Treasurer and Department Vice Presidents.
• Deadline for submission of a Candidate Nomination Form — 31 January
• Upon receipt of the candidate nomination, candidates are asked to provide biographical data.
• During the Spring/Summer Leaders Meeting, the ISA Nominating Committee evaluates candidates and identifies a slate of nominees.
• During the Fall Leaders Meeting, nominees are presented to the Council of Society Delegates for election.

Election Process

• President-elect Secretary, Treasurer and Department Vice Presidents are elected by the Council of Society Delegates which consists of one delegate for each Section.
• District Vice Presidents are elected by the District Nominating Committee (composed of the District's Section Delegates, one delegate per Section, and chaired by the District Nominator).

Duties and Responsibilities of Society Officers and Vice Presidents

The Society has developed desired Society Officer characteristics and criteria.

Society President-elect Secretary

• Highest elected office within ISA.
• President-elect Secretary serves one year, in second year automatically becomes President and in third year becomes "Past President."
• Director and officer on the Society's governing body — the ISA Executive Board and ISA Executive Committee.
• Requires attendance at Executive Board and Executive Committee meetings. Refer to the typical Presidential itinerary for an overview of travel requirements of officers serving in the Presidential chain.
• The Society provides an expense budget for the three-year term to help defray some of the expenses associated with the position (refer to ISA Executive Board MOP, Section TRE 6 for details).
• Refer to the designated sections of the ISA Executive Board Manual of Organization and Procedures for additional details regarding the specific duties and responsibilities.

Treasurer

• Chief financial officer of the Society.
• Two year term and is only Society officer who may be elected to serve consecutive terms.
• Director and officer on the Society's governing body — the ISA Executive Board and ISA Executive Committee.
• Requires attendance at Executive Board and Executive Committee meetings.
• The Society provides an expense budget for the two-year term to help defray some of the expenses associated with the position (refer to ISA Executive Board MOP, Section TRE 6 for details).
• Refer to the designated sections of the ISA Executive Board Manual of Organization and Procedures for additional details regarding the specific duties and responsibilities.

Department Vice Presidents

• Directors serving at the executive level on the ISA Board of Department Vice Presidents.
• Six Vice Presidents from Board of Department Vice Presidents are elected to serve on the ISA Executive Board.
• Four-year commitment — two years as Vice President-elect and two years as Vice President.
• Attendance at Board meetings is strongly recommended during the elect term and is required for Vice Presidents.
• The Society provides an expense budget for the Vice President term to help defray some of the expenses associated with the position (refer to ISA Executive Board MOP, Section TRE 6 for details).
• Refer to the designated sections of the ISA Board of Department Vice Presidents Manual of Organization and Procedures for additional details regarding the specific duties and responsibilities.

District Vice Presidents

• Directors serving at the executive level on the ISA Board of District Vice Presidents.
• Six Vice Presidents from the Board of District Vice Presidents are elected to serve on the ISA Executive Board.
• Four-year commitment — two years of service as Vice President-elect and two years of service as Vice President.
• Attendance at Board meetings is strongly recommended during the elect term and is required for Vice Presidents.
