ISA April Lunch Meeting Presentation
On Thursday, April 25, 2013, Mike Tibbits from TCI will deliver a presentation on "Protecting Variable Speed Drive Systems & Understanding Hamonics". One Professional Development Hour will be available for attending.
The meeting will be held at Grove Madsen Industries located at 4155 W. Russell Road, Las Vegas, NV 89118. Lunch is at 11:30a, Presentation will be from Noon to 1PM.
As the use of variable speed drive systems increase in industrial applications the electrical systems become contaminated with harmonics. In this presentation we will show different solutions to minimize harmonics, understanding IEEE-519, and how to best protect variable speed drives & motors. There will also be discussion on IEEE-519, and a typical harmonic analysis will be demonstrated.
Mike Tibbitts is the Western Regional Manager for TCI, based in Seattle Washington. Mike has been selling and applying TCI filters since 1987. He has been a Drive specialist since 1972 until 2001 specializing in AC, DC and Eddy Current Drive Systems. In 2001 Mike was hired as The Western Regional Manager to build its distribution system, work with the consulting community and its customers. His responsibilities include training, application assistance, and to provide comprehensive harmonic analysis for electrical systems.

On Thursday May 23rd, Ray Wooge from Convergent System Group will deliver a presentation on "Enclosure Cooling and Equipment Protection".
For every 18 degrees above the ambient temperature, electronic components lose 50% life expectancy. Seeing how we live in Las Vegas, there are applications where we need to cool enclosures. We will discuss options that cover everything from fresh air cooling to closed loop solutions. Also discussed will be an overview of various enclosure types, Nema Ratings and tools that will assist with finding a solution for your application.
Ray Wooge is the resident sales rep for Convergent Systems Group who represents various manufacturers that include Pentair Technical Products which include McLean and Hoffman. Ray has been with Convergent Systems Group since April 2008 and prior to joining Convergent Systems worked for a software company specializing in Business Intelligence and Video Surveillance. As a rep for various manufacturers, Ray calls on distribution, contractors, engineers and end users to assist in providing solutions, sales and customer support for their projects.

The “2012 Fall Classic”

The 2012 “Fall Classis” started off with a golf tournament at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club. The weather was not cooperating at all that day and we had to cut the tournament short. The staff at Stallion Mountain did work to provide the best service possible under the poor weather conditions.
We completed the weather shortened round at about 10:45. At about noon we headed to the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino for a lunch buffet and awards presentations in the second floor....
